JOB SUMMARY

We’re seeking a highly motivated Embedded Systems Engineer to support the development, integration, and optimization of electronic control systems for our waste management equipment. This role blends software and hardware expertise with real-world application, including programming PLCs, designing human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and commissioning equipment with remote data capabilities.
Working with our software and mechanical system engineers, you will be hands-on in the implementation of embedded software and electrical systems for our smart composters and other automated waste technology, playing a key role in quality assurance, interface design, and field system commissioning.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • 3+ years experience in embedded systems, industrial automation, or control systems
  • Experience with PLC logic programming and protocols like CAN Bus / Modbus
  • Strong background in electrical systems, instrumentation, or IoT hardware
  • Proficiency with GUI/HMI development tools
  • Familiarity with data communication and remote system access and Javascript
  • High attention to detail and problem-solving capability
  • Able to work independently and within collaborative teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong initiative and accountability for assigned tasks
  • Experience in clean technology, sustainability, or environmental systems is a plus
Responsibilities
  • Design and program embedded control systems (PLC logic, CAN Bus, Modbus protocols)
  • Build and test graphical user interfaces (GUI) for operator-facing systems
  • Support design and implementation of electrical sensor/control circuits
  • Conduct QA testing and iterative GUI improvements based on feedback
  • Reconfigure and install control systems on-site as needed
  • Support data communication via local servers or cloud platforms
  • Monitor, track, and report development milestones and technical issues
  • Perform firmware updates and equipment commissioning
  • Follow and enforce safety protocols during design and deployment
  • Identify and report safety concerns or system malfunctions promptly
