As an Embedded Systems Software Engineer at Centrus Energy, you’ll help power the next generation of advanced centrifuge technology by designing the brains and electronics behind our mission-critical control systems. You’ll work on everything from TI-based embedded programming to motor-control logic and custom instrumentation hardware—bringing ideas to life in development labs and production environments. What You Will Do You’ll lead embedded software and control-electronics design for new machine control and motor-drive systems supporting development activities in Oak Ridge and operations in Piketon. You’ll develop requirements, specs, and test plans; design analog/digital circuits; troubleshoot systems; and guide manufacturing of electronics and prototypes. You’ll evaluate performance, implement electrical system modifications, support instrumentation and controls, and collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and external engineering teams to keep projects on schedule and performing at their best. We’d Love to Hear from People With: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering plus 6+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent industrial electronics experience 1–3 years in embedded systems design 1–3 years supporting manufacturing and/or R&D environments Experience with industrial electronics, embedded programming, and circuit design Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills. Ability to juggle multiple technical projects with minimal supervision. Ability to obtain or maintain a “Q” clearance. A Successful Candidate Brings: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering with 12+ years relevant industrial electronics experience Embedded software development or test experience Experience in electric motor-control design 4+ years of experience in the nuclear industry Familiarity with electrical distribution systems, national codes, and regulatory requirements (UL, IEEE, NEC, ANSI, OSHA, NUREGs) Currently possesses a “Q” or “L” clearance In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
