WHAT YOU€™LL NEED

  • At least 10 years indirect tax experience with big 4 and multinational inhouse experience
  • Experience managing a team of tax professionals, providing ongoing feedback and development opportunities.
  • Proven experience in process automation and indirect tax technology
  • The ability to understand and design processes and controls to manage compliance obligations and risks associated with large volumes of complex data.
  • A comprehensive understanding of EMEA and cross-border indirect tax principles.
  • You have the ability to work with and influence stakeholders on indirect tax matters at all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • You can take ownership over complex new areas and solve problems.
  • You demonstrate attention to details but can summarise key messages succinctly, verbally and in writing, adjusting your style and level of information based on the target audience.

Responsibilities

In this new role we are looking to add a director to lead our EMEA VAT team. The exciting role will involve supporting all aspects of VAT for the group as it continues to grow its international operations. This is a new role within the global tax team and represents an exciting opportunity for the right candidate. We are looking for someone with great experience in automation who has managed a team before, building out this strategic function with a great deal of creation of processes and structures.

  • Taking responsibility for leading the indirect tax function at DLR ensuring compliance in 20+ markets.
  • Providing timely, accurate, practical and proactive VAT advice to internal DLR teams including on investment opportunities and internal restructurings.
  • Developing strong relationships with key stakeholders to identify their needs and priorities, to enable you to work together to manage the indirect tax risks globally.
  • Building up a network and working efficiently with external advisers, being fully aligned with the rest of the tax team, to manage indirect tax exposures.
  • Leading the implementation of tax technology support and automation included but not limited to indirect tax return automation, indirect tax determination and e-compliance.
  • Managing all vendors associated with tax technology support.
  • Leading all VAT controversy for EMEA including careful management of accounting reserve recognition.
  • Building out processes and controls over indirect tax return preparation and submission.
  • Be an engaged, pragmatic and pro-active member of the tax team, helping to make indirect tax more accessible and understood across tax and the wider business- including providing training where needed.
  • Helping the EMEA Head of Tax in managing and reporting tax risks, tax provisions, and risk incidences to be escalated, as well as supporting initiatives to develop the Tax and Finance function.
  • Managing, leading and growing the VAT team.
