Description

VETERINARY EMERGENCY AND CRITICAL CARE INTERNSHIP

Are you a veterinary student or veterinarian looking for an exciting and challenging Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) Internship that will sharpen your skills and prepare you for a dynamic career in emergency veterinary medicine? At Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists (CCVS), we offer the perfect opportunity to gain hands-on experience, work alongside a team of experienced specialists, and provide life-saving care to pets in need. Our growing specialty and emergency hospitals, located in Buzzards Bay and Dennis, MA, are the only emergency and specialty referral centers serving Cape Cod and the Islands.

Why CCVS?

  • Hands-On Emergency Experience: As an intern, you’ll take primary case responsibility on the ECC service, ensuring you’re involved in every aspect of patient care—examining, diagnosing, and treating critically ill or injured animals.
  • Expert Mentorship: You’ll work under the direct supervision of 7 board-certified criticalists and experienced emergency veterinarians for over 70% of your shifts. This hands-on guidance will provide the expertise and support you need to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
  • Comprehensive Training: Participate in daily cage-side rounds with specialists, journal clubs, and weekly mortality and morbidity rounds. You’ll also have the chance to present a lecture on a topic of your choice, allowing you to delve deeper into areas of interest.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduated from an AVMA-accredited veterinary college
  • Eligible for a license to practice in the United States
  • ECFVG or similar certification required for graduates of non-AVMA-approved veterinary schools
