Description
1. Participates as a frontline care giver to patients in the Emergency Center. 2. Provides direct patient care and collects physical, psychological and social patient data under the direction of the Registered Nurse. 3. Participates in development of the patient care plan under the direction of the Registered Nurse. 4. Assists in the timely, complete and proper provision of patient care as established through regulatory agency recommendations and standards as well as Cape Cod Hospital Emergency Center policies, procedures, standards and protocols. 5. Follows patient etiquette guidelines as written in Emergency Department policy. 6. Is familiar with equipment in the department and the location of all items. 7. Assists in transporting patients within the department as well as within the facility in accordance with current safety practices. 8. Assesses personal and learning development needs. Maintains documentation of current and ongoing professional development activities. Regularly updates knowledge of techniques and regulations appropriate to the ages of the patients served. 9. Orients other ER Techs to the unit as assigned by educators/managers. 10. Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers. 11. Performs other work-related tasks and activities as assigned or requested by manager. 12. Demonstrates proficiency in Computerized Nursing Informatics (information systems). 13. Assists in orientation of other personnel to the unit under the direction of the Registered Nurse. · Ability to read, write and communicate in English · Must meet at least one of the following qualifications: a) Successful completion of a Nursing Assistant Program b) Successful completion of an EMT Program c) Successful completion of an LPN Program d) Successful completion of at least one year of an accredited Nursing School Program · Current Basic Life Support Certification · Successful completion of Cape Cod Hospital written competency exam for Nursing Assistants · Completion of an approved de-escalation Certification Course within 90 days from hire (offered within) · Must maintain current licensure or certification as an LPN, CNA or EMT OR successfully pass the ER Tech exam with a score of 80%25 or higher every 2 years
