Description

UNIVERSAL Technologies is seeking an Emergency Communications Engineer for a long-term on-site position in Brooklyn, NY. Applicants must be prepared for full-time on-site work.

MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

Applicants who do not meet these requirements will not be considered.

  • Minimum 8 years of experience working in a data center or in the field supporting related work.
  • At least 4 years of experience in network support and LAN/WAN troubleshooting.
  • 4+ years of experience with communications routing, transport, and delivery (Wireline, Wireless, and VoIP).
  • 4+ years of experience using documentation tools such as MS Excel, MS Visio, and MS Word.
  • Working knowledge of networking hardware and topologies.
  • Familiarity with telecommunication cabling standards and ability to pull and terminate cabling in various environments.
  • Knowledge of computing systems and hardware.
  • Experience with LEC circuit termination and activation.
  • Ability to perform physical work related to the job.
  • Ability to follow detailed technical documentation and procedures.
  • Willingness to travel within the NYC region as needed.
  • Availability for on-call, after-hours, and weekend work as required.

DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Experience with emergency communications infrastructure, systems, and technologies.
  • Knowledge of E911 systems, including call routing, selective routing, and location-based routing.
  • Familiarity with DMS and ACD systems.
  • Understanding of ANI/ALI services and 911 Call Handling Systems.
  • Experience with land-mobile-radio systems, including P25 conventional and trunked networks.
  • Knowledge of NG9-1-1 ESInet call routing.
  • Experience with SMS, RTT, TCC routing, and SMS aggregation.
  • Familiarity with GIS and location-based identification systems.
