Responsibilities

This role operates within a multi-disciplinary team, working closely with Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy to provide early assessment and intervention with a focus on safe and supported discharge from ED where possible or develop clinical recommendations and care plan for those patients requiring a ward admission.
The position is based in the Critical Care and Surgery Team at Westmead. This is a team of 11 social workers providing coverage to the areas of Intensive Care, Emergency Department, Trauma, Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Specialty Surgery, Huntingtons Disease and Renal Services. The team also includes the District Post Mortem Liaison Officer position.
This is a full time position to be worked over 4 x 10 shifts. As the position is part of a service that provides 7-day coverage, weekend work is included in this role and would be required to work one weekend shift every week (roster is likely to be Wednesday – Saturday). Whilst allocated to the RAID-ED clinical area, there are opportunities to broaden your skill development as part of team cover and through After Hours Crisis On Call work.
