This is an Hourly position. Overview POSITION SUMMARY: ​The Emergency Department Technician functions as a member of the emergency department patient care team, under supervision of the registered nurse. The emergency department technician I performs basic patient care procedures to provide for the care, comfort, and safety of patients, including, but not limited to, taking vital signs, assisting patients with activities of daily living, specimen collection, performing ECG's, post-mold application, crutch-walk teaching, spinal immobilization, basic wound care, and observation of patients for physical/emotional changes. Other duties include recording pertinent information in patient charts and communicating with other Patient Care Team members to ensure continuity of care. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School/GED Other skills/knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: License/Certifications: CPR Certification through the American Heart Association Phlebotomy Technician Certification (PBT) Experience: 6 months in a team orientated environment or customer service role Completion of formal structured phlebotomy program OR 3 months’ full-time phlebotomy experience or equivalent. Experience working with an electronic medical record system, such as Epic Maintain composure while working under pressure; ability to perform job duties with frequent interruptions and/or distractions​ Other requirements/information: Positive, professional attitude and demeanor OSF HealthCare is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
