Help build resilient communities across Nelson Tasman by leading emergency management initiatives that make a real difference. About the role | Kō tēnei tūranga mahi We’re looking for a proactive and capable Emergency Management Adviser to join our Civil Defense Emergency Management (CDEM) team on a 7 month Fixed Term to cover parental leave. In this role, you’ll take the lead in developing, coordinating, and delivering key emergency management portfolios across the Nelson Tasman region. Key Responsibilities Lead and coordinate emergency management portfolios pertaining to readiness and response. Provide operational leadership and coordination during emergency events through the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC). Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners - including councils, agencies, iwi, community groups and volunteers. Lead work to ensure the operational readiness of key response facilities, technology and equipment, including both Group and Local Emergency Operation Centres Maintain oversight of and coordinate Lifeline Utility and Critical Infrastructure workstreams Represent the organisation through committees, presentations, and public engagement. About you | Ko ngā pūmanawa ō You’re an experienced and collaborative professional who thrives on variety and responsibility. You bring strong leadership, strategic thinking, technical and communication skills - and you’re calm and confident under pressure. You enjoy working across agencies, building partnerships, and inspiring others to prepare for the unexpected.
