HOW DO I QUALIFY?

The ideal candidate will be a graduate of or currently enrolled in a recognized Emergency Management Program. A combination of relevant education and experience or completion of the Basic Emergency Management (BEM) Course through Emergency Management Ontario will also be considered. General knowledge of/or experience in current emergency management, and/or health and safety management practices and approaches required. Community Emergency Management Coordinator (CEMC) designation would be considered an asset.

In addition, you will possess:

  • The ability to effectively work within a group and good problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to work with and maintain confidential information
  • Strong computer knowledge with Microsoft Office suite
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities

Working under the direction of the Town of Oakville’s Community Emergency Management Coordinator (CEMC), and Alternate, the Emergency Management Analyst will perform the following duties:

  • Assist with the development of emergency management exercises.
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual training calendar and courses for the Emergency Control Group.
  • Work with all necessary town departments, maintaining and updating each respective Departmental Plans including business continuity or continency plans.
  • Assist with record keeping related to the town’s emergency management program.
  • Prepare documents necessary for submission to the Province.
  • Research all necessary elements required for development of a comprehensive Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment.
  • Review all relevant documents and support material in the town’s Emergency Operation Centre and replace or update as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
