Responsibilities EMTs are accountable for responding to all assigned calls in the most appropriate, efficient manner and providing the highest standards of patient care while keeping a safe and hazard-free environment. The EMT works with a Paramedic on an MICU ambulance and contributes to overall patient care in the areas of patient assessment, triage, packaging and transport according to protocol. There are occasions in which the EMT may work with another EMT on a BLS unit within the system. Qualifications Job Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 18 years of age. Texas DSHS certification as EMT Possess and maintain all certifications required by the Medical Control Board and by the UT Health East Texas EMS Master Contract. Possess and maintain current Texas motor vehicle operator’s license and meet all company requirements according to policy Preferred Job Requirements: National Registry International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) certification or Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certification Pediatric Education for Pre-Hospital Professionals (PEPP) certification or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification 2 years of driving experience
Responsibilities
EMTs are responsible for responding to all assigned calls efficiently and providing the highest standards of patient care while maintaining a safe environment. They work with a Paramedic on an MICU ambulance, contributing to patient assessment, triage, packaging, and transport according to protocol, and may occasionally work on a BLS unit with another EMT.
