Description:
We are looking for a fully trained and practising autonomous practitioner (nurse or paramedic) who has been assessed as competent to assess, diagnose, treat and refer or discharge patients within a nurse and paramedic led unit to join our dynamic team. The Practitioner will ensure the delivery of high standards of safe and compassionate patient care within a range of minor injury and minor illness presentations, and to stabilise more serious case presentations for further management to other medical services.
It is essential that the successful candidate has a confident calm and empathetic approach and is able to communicate effectively as part of the team in a dynamic environment.
You will be responsible for your own professional practice, ensuring a multidisciplinary approach to patient care and the smooth running of the Minor Injury Unit.
You will also act as a resource for staff, provide professional clinical leadership and provide health education and training to patients and carers as required.
The post holder will be required to work as part of a skilled team to support the provision of an effective and safe clinical service.
You will assist in providing best practice for patients, and when appropriate, to involve relatives and carers in decision making. You are expected to provide autonomous highly specialised clinical advice, examination and treatment to patients, precise record keeping and documentation, and to initiate referrals to other specialists or provide follow-up care as required.
You will work closely with the Line Manager , MIU colleagues and other clinical colleagues to promote good working relationships with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
You will lead by example and act as a role model within the Trust, working collaboratively with colleagues, managers and matrons and ensure effective communication within the team.
