Description

Build Skills. Build Community. Build Hope.
At Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex, we believe that safe, decent housing is the foundation for resilient communities. We’re growing our Emergency Readiness and Repair Program, and we’re looking for a skilled professional to join us as an Emergency Repair & Remediation Trainer.
This is not a classroom role—you’ll be on the job site, toolbelt on, side-by-side with staff and volunteers, teaching hands-on skills while making a direct impact on homes and families in Windsor-Essex.
What You’ll Do

As our Emergency Repair & Remediation Trainer, you’ll:

  • Train and mentor team leads and volunteers during active repair and remediation projects.
  • Provide coaching in carpentry fundamentals, tool use, demolition, installation, and finishing work.
  • Ensure all job sites meet or exceed safety standards, modeling best practices and leading Toolbox Talks.
  • Collaborate with program leaders to align training with project needs, and provide input into future training events and toolkits.
  • Deliver quality workmanship while empowering others to grow their skills.

Your time will be divided between our ReStore and office at 51 Edinborough Street, Windsor (behind Tepperman’s) and active build sites across Windsor-Essex.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of hands-on carpentry or renovation experience (residential preferred).
  • Experience with disaster remediation (flood, fire, or mold repair) is an asset.
  • A passion for teaching and mentoring others in a practical, on-the-job setting.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with volunteer-driven construction or community work is a plus.
  • Commitment to safety and ability to model safe practices.
  • Valid driver’s license, clear abstract, reliable vehicle, and appropriate insurance.
  • Physically able to lift 30 lbs, bend, squat, and navigate active work sites.
  • Red Seal certification is welcomed but not required.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of an innovative, community-driven organization making a tangible difference in people’s lives.
  • Use your skills to train the next generation of builders and responders.
  • Work in a supportive, mission-driven environment where every project changes lives.

If you’re ready to put your skills to work for your community and help train others to respond when disaster strikes, we want to hear from you.
Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and experiences who share our commitment to building stronger, more inclusive communities.
