Description:
When there is a fire, flood or severe weather, we’re among the first to respond. From making a cup of tea to deliver the essentials, we work with other organisations to do what’s needed straight away. We are looking for a volunteer who is highly motivated & flexible and is able to; - Reach BRC Wimbledon Office, SW19 4EE within 30-40 mins. - Driving is essential for this role; you should have held a driving licence for at least 2 years. - Be available to be on-call for a minimum of 2 X 12 hour shifts a month, on a rota basis, covering either 07:00 to 19:00 or 19:00 to 07:00 shifts, on weekdays or weekends. This doesn’t necessarily mean you will be deployed every shift. - Able to attend in person training at British Red Cross UK office (44 Moorfields, London EC2Y 9AL) once a month. Usually held on the last Monday or Tuesday early evening of every month. - Available to undertake required in person, e-learning modules and Zoom training sessions in the first few months of volunteering (please see details in the Learning Pathway attached) plus other service specific trainings as required. - Minimum commitment of 18 months Due to the nature of this role, applicants must undergo an Enhanced with Adults barred Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. As an Emergency Response Volunteer, you will give people the support they need at a time they need it the most.

Give practical support such as distributing clothing, food or water after an emergency.
Tell people where they can get extra support.
Collaborate with local government or emergency services staff.
