Job #215 IES Senior Advisor
Location: Remote – office and community visits as required
Department: Integrated Emergency Services
Type of Role: Part-Time/ Casual
Are you passionate about supporting the IFNA communities, strategic planning, and oversight and support to IES Managers? This role requires quick thinking, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations while also supporting senior management staff and team members as well. They have a strong commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care/services to communities, staff and partners and align to the values and beliefs of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance and support to the Director of IES and IES managers as assigned, including strategic planning, direction, and leadership.
  • May at times function as Acting Director, Incident Commander/Duty Officer or an Acting IES Manager covering senior management staff while they are on vacation or otherwise unavailable, including having signing authority for purchasing and approvals, as authorized by the IES Director.
  • Completes other duties as assigned (where qualified) including various emergency operations such as drone operations, basic interface firefighting, and medical response, etc.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and post-graduate training in related discipline; equivalent education and experience will be considered.
  • Certification in Project Management
  • Five years related experience in a senior emergency services leadership role, leading teams, and working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
  • Three years experience in Project Management
  • Valid G class driver’s license with accessibility to a reliable insured vehicle and willingness to upgrade to DZ and/or F class
  • Incident Command System/Incident Management System certification ICS/IMS 100, 200, 250, 300 required.
  • Basic Emergency Management Certification BEM 200, 300 level certification is required.
  • Fire services, medical or paramedic qualifications skills and certifications (an asset)
  • Ability to provide and maintain a clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening and Child Abuse Registry check.
  • Ability to work under stressful situations and exercise sound judgement in all situations.
  • Excellent level of written and verbal communication, ability to chair meetings, liaise with senior government, tribal council, and community leadership on complex issues.
  • Excellent conflict management, team development, and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of indigenous Fire and Emergency Services, as well as a good understanding of provincial services and Indigenous Services Canada is an asset.
  • Ability to speak Ojibwe or Oji-cree is an asset.

Salary Range: $64.84 /hour
Schedule: Primarily Monday through Friday, however, shifts may vary and are typically assigned based on operational need as emergency situations can occur at any time. This includes overtime and on-call availability
