Job Title : Emergency Services Technician Job Summary :

  • The Emergency Services Tech provides assistance to Emergency Room staff by performing approved patient treatments and procedures under supervision. The Emergency Services Technician participates in the admission, transfer, and discharge processes, assists patients during their stay, and assists in maintaining the cleanliness of the work area. Relies on established guidelines to accomplish tasks. Works under close supervision.

Experience, Education, Training, Special Skills, and Licensure :

  • None
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and Specialized Training
  • Must meet one of the following criteria: Nurse Aide Certification or, One year experience in emergency medicine environment or, Certified Medical Assistant or enrolled in a Nursing program
  • Good Communication, Customer Service and organizational skills.
  • BLS Certification

Job Function :

  • Patient Care: This will have been satisfactorily performed when�
  • Approved patient treatments and procedures (e.g., accucheck, catheterization, non-medicated enemas) are performed under the supervision and direction of appropriate personnel and in a professional and caring manner at all times.
  • Expediently answers patient call lights, assists patients with personal hygiene and other activities of daily living (e.g., dressing, ambulation) in a caring and understanding manner, and efficiently maintains an attractive, comfortable, and safe environment for patients with special consideration to room cleanliness, ventilation, lighting, and patient safety.
  • Active participation in patient admission, transfer, and discharge by greeting patient and their families, orienting patients to their environment, taking patient vital signs, and completing necessary paperwork, is provided as needed, in a timely and efficient manner as evidenced by lack of complaints.
  • Patient clothing and valuables is properly taken care off by accurately describing and securing items in the prescribed manner.
  • Collaboration & Partnership: This will have been satisfactorily performed when�
  • All incoming telephone and intercom calls are courteousely answered, and takes and relays messages to appropriate personnel using proper judgment regarding interruptions and paging at all times as evidenced by lack of complaints.
  • Assists in providing proper identification and care for deceased patients and comforts family members in times of sorrow.
  • Quality: This will have been satisfactorily performed when�
  • Work area is kept neat, clean, orderly, and safe at all times.
  • An adequate inventory levels is maintained by preparing and submitting customized requisitions for supplies and equipment, verifies that ordered supplies are received and disbursed, and ensures that requisitions are properly filled.
  • The adequacy and cleanliness of patient linens is ensured by efficiently maintaining supplies at all times and utilizes sterile techniques in setting up sterile trays for surgery.
