EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master’s degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Must be able to obtain an SCI. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position:

REQUIRED SKILLS INCLUDE:

  • Ability to provide detailed EMI/EMC and EME design guidance.
  • Perform testing in accordance with MIL-STD-461C/D/E/F/G.
  • Familiar with MIL-STD-464D for providing compliance design support.
  • Modeling/Simulation software experience.
  • Familiarity with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, EMI receivers, Spectrum and Network analyzers, etc.
  • Familiarity with test equipment control programs such as TILE!, NEXIO BAT-EMC, or EMC32.
  • Candidate must be able to work independently, communicate clearly and effectively with internal employees and customer
Responsibilities

ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:

As an electrical engineer for the GDMS Space, Cyber & Intelligence Systems (SC&I) Engineering Support Group, you’ll be a member of a cross functional team responsible for providing EMI/EMC and TEMPEST support to a multitude of programs.
GDMS is seeking an experienced Engineer with a strong background in Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) including Electromagnetic Interference/Compatibility (EMI/EMC) and Electromagnetic Effects (EME). Experience with TEMPEST and RED/BLACK design is also desirable. As a member of the GDMS EMC/TEMPEST Group the candidate will perform design, analysis and testing tasks for a wide variety of Space hardware and systems, tactical communications systems, and ruggedized communications and computer equipment for military applications. Products range from tabletop subsystems, to large complex systems, and vehicular systems.

EMI/EMC TASKS INCLUDE:

  • Review of customer requirement specifications for E3 requirements for new product proposals.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide detailed design guidance on filters, shielding of ventilation, gaskets, transient protection needs, cable shielding, etc.
  • Provide cost effective E3 design guidance needed for compliance with military EMI and EME standards.
  • Determine the need for transient protection for electromagnetic threats including HEMP, Lightning, electrostatic discharge, etc. and recommend transient protection devices.
  • Use Electromagnetic modeling tools such as ANSYS in support of EMI/EMC and E3 design.
  • Perform EMI/EMC testing and troubleshoot equipment problems as needed and recommend cost effective solutions with minimal design impact.
  • Prepare EMI/EMC test plans and reports.
