Description

How you’ll make a difference:
As an Employability and Skills Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting young people and adults to find employment and advance their careers through learning and training opportunities. You will act as the link between internal and external teams and services to help our customers achieve positive outcomes.

What you will be doing:

  • It will be your responsibility to develop a personal action plan and identify suitable career development and learning programmes for those using our service.
  • You will support customers to overcome their barriers and, where appropriate, refer them to further progression opportunities and employment.
  • Working in partnership with schools, colleges, local authority teams, employers and specialist providers, you will identify educational and/or employment pathways.
  • By maintaining regular contact and engagement with our customers, you will manage individual caseloads and provide ongoing support.
  • It will be key for you to accurately maintain and update records to help inform practice and improve outcomes.

What we need from you:

  • You must have a minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grade 4 or above), or equivalent qualification, including English and maths.
  • It is essential for you to have previous experience working with young people and a strong knowledge of the barriers they may face within the workforce.
  • Ideally, you will have an IAG, youth work, or teaching qualification, or be willing to undertake further training.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • This is a limited term contract, until 31st March 2026.
  • This role is hybrid, with a mixture of working at our office in Yate, from home, and occasionally from local community venues.
  • Please note that due to the nature of this role, it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained.
  • You will be expected to travel throughout the authority and surrounding area so you must have a full, valid driving licence with regular access to a vehicle or have an alternative means of travel.

WE’RE MAKING A DIFFERENCE, BE PART OF IT!
