Join Howdens Joinery as an ER Advisor and specialise in Employee Relations within an industry leading FTSE100 firm.
In this role, you will play a key role working as part of a team of experienced ER professionals who are passionate about delivering a high-quality ER service. The HR Shared Services team work from home once a week and spend the other four days in the office.

Responsibilities

WHAT ARE MY RESPONSIBILITIES AS AN ER ADVISOR?

  • Partner with managers through coaching and mentoring to ensure that casework is resolved in a professional manner, in line with policy timescales. Advisory options are presented to our managers in a way that they can use advice to make their own commercial decisions as well as understand the risk and wider implications.
  • Respond to employee queries and concerns without undermining line manager relationship and escalating concerns appropriately.
  • Responsible for the preparation of case documentation as necessary, ensuring the investigation/hearing manager is ultimately the owner of the final documentation.
  • Work closely with managers in order to develop an understanding of the business and to establish a professional working relationship with managers and colleagues at all levels.

WHAT DO I NEED TO QUALIFY FOR THIS ER ADVISOR ROLE?

  • Experience managing a portfolio of ER cases, ideally within a shared services environment
  • Good knowledge of employment law/employee relations issues through working within an HR team.
  • Ability to understand the crux of the situation and quickly gain trust.
  • Building solid working relationships and effectively communicate at any level.
  • Ability to respond to changing demands and priorities.
    There is a continuous demand from the business for ER support and the pace at which the business operates means a quick and commercially focused response is required by the role, therefore credibility and the ability to influence are essential.
