PURPOSE OF POSITION: This position serves as a strategic partner to leaders and a resource to team members, ensuring fair and consistent practices aligned with our values and legal requirements. The role focuses on resolving workplace concerns, strengthening communication, and supporting a culture grounded in accountability, respect, and connection. This position will oversee team member concerns, create action plans with supervisors, evaluate effectiveness, and coach leaders toward resolutions that reflect our organizational values. This position also collaborates closely with Human Resources leadership to ensure full compliance with all company policies as well as state and federal laws and regulations. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Addresses, facilitates, prevents and resolves workplace issues, disputes, and grievances in a timely and professional manner.  Conducts fact findings on reported team member complaints or concerns such as harassment, discrimination, or retaliation. Collaborates with Asset Protection for investigations.  Provide guidance and support to management on employee relations issues adhering to company policies/procedures, rules and regulations, and compliance.  Monitors and responds to reported issues and concerns, overseeing the company's progressive discipline process, including performance-improvement actions for underperforming employees. Provides timely escalation and reporting to the Senior Manager of Leadership Development and Work Culture Development and the Senior Director of HR to prevent unplanned legal or mitigation actions.  Advises and supports department supervisors to evaluate, plan and execute initiatives to reduce employee relation issues and promote team morale.  Identify skill gaps in department leadership and collaborates toward closing the skill gap for leaders. Refers leaders to Learning & Development and Career Pathways as needed.  Drives on company business as required or has reliable transportation to facilitate transportation mobility needs of the agency.  Supports onboarding practices like monitoring 30-60-90 introductory period. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or equivalent work experience/education combined.  Three to five years relevant experience in Human Resources or investigation and conflict resolution.  Ability to work with minimum supervision. Flexible and adaptable in handling employee concerns and reports matters 24 hours per day.  Prior Human Resources experience or equivalent familiarity with employee engagement, conflict resolution, manager support, team morale, and policy and compliance.  Valid California driver's license, liability insurance, and a DMV record acceptable to Goodwill's insurance company.  Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred and or ability to seek resources for translation as needed.
