Job Description The Employee Relations Business Partner reporting to the Employee Relations Specialist will be responsible to assist and provide an effective and efficient industrial generalist function in alignment with departmental and company strategy. Ensure awareness and adherence to L.R.A., B.C.E.A. and all other related labour legislation in the country. Provide assistance with the execution of the full IR function within the organization Assist line managers implement fair procedures to deal with misconduct Advise line managers on the resolution of individual grievances Managing disciplinary process (counselling, meeting & enquiries) Build and manage relationship with Employee Representative Group and any other Union(s) relationship according to legislation Compile ad hoc reports when required Record keeping too be up to date on PaySpace and other tracking systems (warnings, etc.) Co-ordinate training of new chairpersons and all management on ER Policy and IR process Reviewing and bettering of all process and documentation and policies and procedures Keep abreast of IR policy development Assist with the management of employee relations cases, including investigations, discrimination, and misconduct Partner with Employee Relations Specialist to partner with management, to interpret HR policies, offering coaching on performance management, and disciplinary actions Act as a mediator to resolve interpersonal conflicts and facilitate communication between employees and leadership. Administration Assistance with compiling of Management reports on all key output areas of the position or as needed Ensure regular communication of organizational and personnel related issues Comply and promote, always, the SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct to preserve and enhance SGS reputation as a socially responsible company Compiling info needed for Corporate Sustainability Report Monthly IR Report and following up Assist with coordination of ER Projects/Initiatives as when required. Maintenance of filing system on HR Sharepoint for ER. Ensuring all ER related documents are control as per process prescribe and policy Adhere to the Management System Policy Manual as approved Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager Qualifications Education Grade 12 National Diploma/Degree in Human Resources or related – and/or 5 years proven experience in the sector or within the company in the functions, knowledge, skills and experience sufficient to be recognized as a qualification through Recognition of Prior Learning Experience Minimum 5 years’ IR Generalist experience in a large organization At least 3 years’ operational experience and success as IR Business Partner in a corporate environment Keen understanding and application of relevant labor legislation Skills Well-developed verbal & written communication, presentation, project management, report compilation and interpersonal skills Well-developed administrative, problem solving, planning and organizational skills High personal and ethical standards High level of professionalism and emotional intelligence Anticipates issues, solves problems Able to make clear decisions and judgments Ability to build trust, respect and confidentiality Hands-on and practical approach with attention to detail Good balance between firmness and diplomacy Sense of initiative, able to work independently, as well as in teams Ability to work under pressure and set high standards Good computer literacy (Word, Excel, Power point & Outlook).
