REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year experience in job placement, recruiting, career counseling, workforce development, or a related industry role.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, performance-driven, compliance-oriented educational environment
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, highly organized, and have the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity, strong work ethic, and professionalism
  • Persuasive and effective verbal and written communication skills, with a strong focus on customer service in an educational setting.
  • Highly motivated and goal-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and as collaborative team member and have exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer skills are required with proficiency in MS Office applications including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams
  • Exhibits a positive, team-oriented attitude by remaining flexible and available to work outside of scheduled hours when needed, as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Ability and willingness to travel locally and/or overnight for business purposes.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Career Counseling, Human Resources, Business or a Related Field.

Responsibilities

POSITION PURPOSE

The Employment and Career Advisor (also known as the Career Services Coordinator) is responsible for enhancing the professional and career development of students and graduates by providing coaching in key areas such as resume writing, job search strategies, and interviewing best practices. This role also involves facilitating direct connections between students/graduates and employers, with the goal of assisting them in securing gainful, entry-level employment in fields related to their programs.

KEY DUTIES

  • Develop and deliver workshops and individual coaching sessions on resume writing, job search techniques, and interview preparation.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with employers to identify job opportunities and facilitate internship and employment placements for students.
  • Track student progress and outcomes, providing ongoing support and resources to ensure successful career transitions.
    This position ensures that career services effectively support students in achieving their employment goals, aligning with institutional objectives and contributing to the overall success of the organization.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Initiate contact with students to outline the goals and objectives of Career Services, ensuring they understand how we assist in securing job placement opportunities.
  • Organize and facilitate professional and career development workshops and seminars that help students sharpen their skills and prepare for their chosen careers.
  • Support recent graduates, alumni, and active students in career planning and job placement efforts, adhering to internal policies as well as state and federal regulations and accrediting agency standards.
  • Actively participate in Career Development classes by conducting exit interviews with graduating students to gather feedback and insights.
  • Plan and execute Career Fairs and Employer Events throughout the year, providing students with ample networking and job search opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community partners, industry experts, and professional organizations to create a robust pipeline to potential employers.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry requirements and certifications to ensure that students and graduates are well-equipped to enter their fields and secure gainful employment.
  • Organize and lead two Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings annually, engaging educators and industry experts to gather recommendations for program improvement; record and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Utilize CampusNexus to document and track all communications related to student interactions, maintaining detailed records of their employment statuses and relevant documentation.
  • Produce and present weekly, quarterly, and annual reports to assess and communicate career services effectiveness.
  • Take part in commencement ceremonies and related activities to support graduating students.
  • Maintain current job listings for active students and graduates to ensure they have access to available opportunities.
  • Work with the Student Services Coordinator on G&E Chart confirmations and audits related to G&E and Cohort.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor to support the overall mission of the Career Services department.
