QUALIFICATIONS

  • University Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Social Sciences or related field including Kinesiology, Community Rehabilitation, Vocational Rehabilitation, Psychology, Social Work, Education,
  • Career and employment counselling, job development/placement and marketing, case management, government programming and facilitation experience an asset
  • Candidates should have a strong understanding of the Alberta labour market with an emphasis on their respective locations
  • Sensitivity to learning limitations that may be present with participants
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills
  • Knowledgeable with social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, as well as key job search sites including Glassdoor, Indeed, CareerBuilder for job searching and applications
  • Ability to lesson plan for multiple levels of learning across various ages and abilities
  • Outstanding teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • An excellent understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity

Responsibilities
  • Recruiting, screening and assessing participants for eligibility
  • Conducting vocational profiles to determine employment history, education and experience
  • Assessing transferable skills and skills gaps
  • Identifying participant barriers to employment and providing strategies to overcome or remove barriers
  • Facilitating essential skills, employment preparation, and occupational skills workshops
  • Completing resumes
  • Conducting labor market research
  • Identifying suitable job options and collaboratively developing return to work plans
  • Coordinating Core and Specialized Stream Training program schedules
  • Linking participants to appropriate training providers and community resources
  • Marketing participants to prospective employers
  • Providing job placement support, career and employment counselling
  • Monitoring and maintaining participant files and participant Passports
