INTRODUCTION:

Are you ready to make a real difference in the lives of people with disability? Join EPIC Assist as a part time Employment Consultant, 19 hours per week, based in Ballina

DESCRIPTION:

Why you might love this opportunity
You’ll be joining a diverse team of impact focused people from all walks of life. We are not only dedicated to creating inclusive employment opportunities for others, but also building a workplace environment that empowers our own staff to be the best they can be. Inclusivity, accessibility, support, and empathy are at the centre of everything we do.
As a not-for-profit Disability Employment Servies (DES) provider, our number one priority is always the wellbeing of our job seekers. Every day, we come into work inspired to break down barriers and build a world where everyone has a right to meaningful employment.
You’ll get to support and train individuals with barriers such as disability, mental health or health condition, and injury to secure and maintain meaningful, sustainable employment.
Every day brings something new! No two participants are the same, and you’ll need to employ several different strategies tailored to the individual’s employment goals and align with their skills and support needs.
A day in the life of an Employment Consultant
At the heart of an Employment Consultant role is enabling people with barriers to prepare for, find, and keep a job they love. But this role is so much more than that.
The balance of your work might change as you find your stride, but to start off, it will look a little something like this:
35% directly supporting job seekers with barriers to grow, develop, and realise their potential. This may be in person or on the phone.
20% creating and sourcing new opportunities for your job seekers.
10% collaborating, planning, and sharing your ideas, skills, and experience with the team.
35% maintaining and completing records, claims, and other important documentation.
Am I suited for an Employment Consultant role?
We understand that all life journeys are unique, and experience looks a little different to everyone. What unites us is our passion for genuinely helping people. Whether your background is in retail, hospitality, hairdressing, administration, business development, or human services, your transferrable skills in delivering a 10/10 customer experience could make the difference in supporting our participants and community.
If you have skills, experience, or passions that resemble any of the below, this role might be for you:
Communication: You have a flair for connecting with people from all walks of life. You are genuine, kind, and compassionate, and take the time to listen and understand everyone’s story and journey.
Teamwork: You’ll be working alongside staff that are dedicated to assisting our job seekers. EPIC is at its most effective when we’re working together, and you’ll get the chance to form lasting bonds with everyone in the office.
Growth mindset: The ability to grow and develop is a must. You might not have direct experience working with people with disability, but you are willing to go on a journey of continuous learning and growth.
Proactive: You are a self-starter and who has a positive attitude towards building relationships, maximising opportunities, and striving to reach KPIs.
Administration: You don’t need to be a tech guru to succeed here, but you do need to have intermediate computer literacy, phone, and record keeping skills.
Purpose: You have values that align with our team and EPIC’s mission – to enable people, communities, and places to overcome disadvantage and aspire to reach their greatest potential.
