Description Summary: The Employment Consultant-STW is responsible for the oversight and implementation of the school to work program within the assigned high school. Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A FLSA Status: Exempt Essential Job Responsibilities: Direct, mentor and schedule activities of classroom assistant(s). Develop and/or implement work skill development curriculum for each grade Freshman through Senior. In compliance with school policies and procedures implement effective evaluation and grading. Coordinate with Pre-ETS staff to assure best possible outcomes for every student. Provide training and instruction on work and related skills using a variety of systematic instructional techniques and support strategies. Collect performance data and elicit employer evaluations of assigned students. Coordinate, facilitate and/or actively participate in Individual Education Plan meeting for assigned caseload and/or as requested by individuals served. Seek out and/or act on opportunities to engage in advocacy efforts that preserve the rights of persons served. Provide expertise in adaptations, job accommodations and universal design. Communicate regularly with both employers and individuals served to assure employment success and satisfaction. Utilize effective verbal, written and electronic communication in daily interactions and in team, department, and other meetings, to accomplish tasks and clarify information for all internal and external customers. Actively participate in department and committee meetings as appropriate, acting on all assigned items. Immediately alert supervisor/manager of any potentially critical issue or crisis. Ensure the implementation of vocational and related supports for individuals assigned. Model appropriate behavior in interactions with individuals served, staff, families, community resources and other audiences/customers. Actively participate in personal professional development. Perform other duties and/or complete special projects as may be requested or assigned. Requirements Ability to utilize a variety of systematic instruction techniques People skills Ability to learn and effectively utilize identified computer software applications to accomplish tasks Organization Ability read, comprehend, interpret and apply information from general procedures, instructions, data and reports Confidentiality Attention to detail Ability to promote and market program benefits to potential employers Ability to create and maintain professional relationships with families Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in human services or a closely related business field, such as education, rehabilitation, marketing, etc Prefer two years’ work experience in human services supporting individuals with disabilities Experience in job analysis and work-site training, as well as an understanding of supported employment practices preferred High School Diploma Customer Service experience Physical Requirements: Must have ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs. periodically Must maintain CPR and First Aid certification and must stay current on all other training as defined by state, accreditation body or organization guidelines
