JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking an experienced Employment Expert Witness consultant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of workplace practices, human resources, hiring/firing procedures, wage and hour issues, employment law compliance, and standard HR protocols. This position is ideal for someone with a strong HR or employment law background who wants to apply their expertise in a legal setting to support attorneys and courts in understanding complex employment matters.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Employment Law, or related field (advanced degree or JD preferred).
  • Substantial experience in HR management, employment law, or labor relations.
  • Demonstrated experience providing expert testimony in legal proceedings (depositions/trials).
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills with an eye for detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to clearly explain complex employment concepts to non-experts.
  • HR certifications (e.g., SPHR, SHRM-SCP) or legal licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Draft detailed expert reports and declarations based on comprehensive review of documents, policies, and employment practices.
  • Testify as an expert witness in depositions, hearings, and trials-translating HR and employment concepts for judges, juries, and attorneys.
  • Consult with legal teams to shape case strategy and advise on employment standards and practices.
  • Stay current on evolving federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Review and assess company policies, employee handbooks, and personnel records for compliance and standard-of-care analysis.
