QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • A minimum of one-year experience in the field of vocational rehabilitation, behavioral programming, or a related field.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills including presenting in a classroom setting.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to independently make decisions.
  • Valid driver’s license, ability to travel for work, and ability to work in multiple locations throughout the community.
  • Working knowledge of computers, internet, and databases.
  • Available to carry an emergency phone on a rotating basis.
  • Available for occasional work in evenings and on weekends.
Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Director of Community Support Services, the Employment Services Coordinator is required to perform the following duties:

  • Administer all phases of the employment services program focusing on the continuum of services:
  • Maintain a person-centered focus on employment.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with community employers, various agencies and stakeholders, and individuals who are seeking employment.
  • Assess the needs of individuals to develop appropriate person-centered goals for employment.
  • Supervise Job Placement Coordinators to provide quality services to individuals.
  • Review and modify provision of services to meet the changing needs of the individual and the employer.
  • Maintain all required documentation in a timely manner
  • Serve as a liaison between The Arc, community organizations and businesses, the MISD Transition Council, and individuals and their support circles to facilitate successful employment and address areas of concerns.
  • Train Direct Support Professionals to perform job coaching duties with individuals who are employed.
  • Serve as backup for teaching classes related to employment skills at local high schools.
  • Serve as an advocate for people with disabilities and ensure that the rights and safety of all individuals are recognized and protected.
  • Provide verbal and/or written reports on progress of services to the Director of Community Support Services.
  • Carry emergency phone on a rotating basis.
  • Participate on committees as assigned.
  • Participate in agency fundraising activities.
  • Attend all trainings and meetings as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
