Job Description AHRC New York City is seeking a full-time Employment Skills Instructor to support young adults with disabilities as they develop workplace skills through hands-on internship rotations. This role provides on-the-job training, individualized coaching, and vocational skill-building to help interns gain independence, integrate into workplace environments, and prepare for competitive employment. The instructor works closely with interns, business partners, families, school district staff, and agency team members to ensure student success. Location: Queens, NY Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm (exact schedule may vary based on internship rotations). Key Responsibilities Provide individualized on-the-job training to interns, including task analysis, systematic instruction, and workplace skill development. Support interns in building independence, workplace behaviors, and soft skills (communication, grooming, interviewing, etc.). Collaborate with instructors, employers, families, and school/agency partners regarding intern progress and workplace expectations. Conduct or assist with assessments (e.g., Vocational Fit) to help match interns with appropriate internship tasks. Document progress, workplace observations, and training notes accurately and timely. Participates in professional growth activities such as conferences, in-services, etc. Qualifications Required Qualifications Associates or Bachelor degree + 3 years of related experience, or High school diploma + 6 years of related experience Experience working with youth or adults with disabilities highly preferred Experience implementing instructional strategies to support individuals in workplace settings Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, employers, and school/agency partners Strong communication and interpersonal skills Flexibility and strong problem-solving skills Strong organizational and time management skills Commitment to promoting independence, inclusion, and vocational success Additional Information Benefits Free Medical Insurance at NO Cost to you!
