Job Details Job Location: Saginaw - Saginaw, MI 48858 Position Type: Full Time Education Level: 2 Year Degree Travel Percentage: Up to 50% Job Shift: Any Position Summary: The Employment Specialist is an integral part of the HR team, responsible for recruiting qualified job candidates and moving them through the hiring process from developing candidate pools to final onboarding into their jobs. In addition, the Employment Specialist will assist in tracking, managing, and reporting out regulated employment functions such as unemployment claims, FMLA, workers’ compensation. This position will be responsible for hiring and onboarding candidates in our remote regions. It will be a hybrid position with 60% remote work in the Saginaw, MI area and 40% in-person work at our Main Office in Mount Pleasant, MI. Reporting and Supervision Reports to the Chief Human Resource Officer Essential Job Functions Recruitment and Sourcing: Develop and implement effective recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates. Source candidates through various channels, including job boards, social media, and networking events. Screen resumes and applications to identify suitable candidates. Interviewing and Hiring: Conduct initial phone screens and coordinate in-person interviews with hiring managers. Assist in the development of interview questions and assessment tools. Provide recommendations for hiring decisions based on candidate evaluations. Staffing and Onboarding: Collaborate with department managers to understand staffing needs and create job descriptions. Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition into the organization. Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records. Compliance and Legal: Stay current with federal and state employment laws and regulations. Ensure all hiring practices comply with legal requirements and organizational policies. Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures. Assist in managing, tracking, and reporting regulated employment functions. Employee Relations: Address employee inquiries regarding HR policies, regulated employment matters, and employment law. Support the HR team in resolving employee relations issues and conflicts. Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong skills working with data bases and Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel. Demonstrate organization skills and attention to detail Demonstrate a solid sense of empathy and commitment to the mission of Listening Ear Ability to communicate effectively in writing, person-to-person, via telephone, and video conferencing Possess a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality Able to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organization Must be able to successfully pass a thorough criminal background check. Must possess a valid driver license and good driving record. Education and Experience Required: Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Bachelor’s Degree Preferred. 1-3 years of business experience, with preference given to experience in an HR generalist role or an HR discipline. HR certification is a plus, but not essential at time of hire. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue certification in the course of employment. Schedule, Travel Expectations, Working Conditions The typical work schedule for this position will be Monday-Friday, although occasional work on weekends or during evening hours may be required to meet the objectives of the position. This is a hybrid position. Initially estimated at 60% of the work being performed remotely and 40% onsite. The capacity to perform work remotely may increase over time. Position will require regular travel to Listening Ear home locations within the region, as well as to our main office in Mt. Pleasant. Physical Requirements Most of the work is performed with significant periods of time in front of a computer screen and using a telephone. Must pass physical and TB test.
