SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of supported employment models (IPS/SEQF).
  • Working in a target-driven environment with demonstrable results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, with strong listening and questioning skills.
Responsibilities

WHAT’S INVOLVED WITH THIS ROLE:

The Employment Support Officer will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a high-quality supported employment programme funded by the Youth Guarantee Trailblazer. Using the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) and Supported Employment Quality Framework (SEQF) models, the postholder will manage a caseload of care-experienced young people, supporting them into sustainable employment.
The role will also involve engaging and collaborating with employers, training providers, and partner organisations to raise awareness of the programme and secure employment opportunities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build strong relationships with council services, employers, training providers, and partner agencies to raise awareness of the Youth Guarantee Trailblazer and provide a joined-up support service.
  • Recruit care-experienced young people who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET) into the programme, providing varying levels of tailored support.
  • Manage a caseload of young people, delivering motivation, guidance, and personal development support to achieve sustainable employment aligned with their aspirations.
  • Engage with employers to identify suitable job opportunities, including those not widely advertised, and match them to programme participants.
  • Support employers in providing a positive and inclusive work environment for young people, advising on good practice.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of young people and employers, ensuring compliance with statutory and programme requirements.
