Description Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey is looking for energetic, fun, organized, and caring staff to provide memorable experiences to girls in a safe and engaging Summer Camp environment! At Jockey Hollow, there are 212 pristine acres to explore and enjoy. With a large "L"-shaped swimming pool, Low Ropes Challenge Course and Zip Line, beautiful equestrian center, archery range, playing field, and adventurous hiking trails, the fun is endless! The Camp EMT will supervise and be responsible for the general health and safety of campers and staff during our summer camp program. Immediate Supervisor: Camp Health Office Supervisor & Camp Director Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Work Cooperatively with GSNNJ Administrative staff, and Health Office Supervisor to ensure the highest level of safety, health, and activities for campers, and staff. Maintains the camp health office in accordance with GSUSA, American Camping Association Standards and the NJ Youth Camp Safety Act (Related to Health and Safety), and Center for Disease Control. Must be always on site and accessible when campers are present. Maintains first aid equipment for the first aid station, units, and waterfront daily. Administers first aid and medications as directed under the standing orders and camp policies and health supervisor. Contacts parents via phone to discuss campers’ medical concerns. Inspects the sanitation and safety practices throughout the camp, including kitchen, restrooms, garbage cans, and picnic tables daily. Advises the Camp Director on all health and safety concerns of importance. Maintains medical logs in accordance with American Camping Association standards, GSUSA, and Department of Health. Follows procedures for routine health care, first aid, and emergency medical care. Assists with development of Communicable Disease Plan prior to camp beginning and making changes as needed throughout summer. Is a key member of the Communicable Disease Response Team. Ensures Communicable Disease Plan (including for Covid19) is implemented in first aid office and assists with implementation throughout the rest of the camp property. Required to participate in pre-camp training. Assists Camp Health Office Supervisor in opening and closing inventory of camp health office, equipment and supplies. Submits a written report and recommendations for the following season. Nurse/and or EMT is always in First Aid room when camper(s) are present for health or medical reasons. Must be able to stay and sleep over for at least two out of the three overnights. Must be able to stay at camp until the end of campfire for the overnights not staying overnight for. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Camp Director and Camp Health Supervisor. Daily Rate: $150 per day. This is based on a 7.5 hour work day, which translates to $20 per hour. Requirements Minimum Age: 18 years of age. Must have a current NJ EMT Certification or a Nationally Accredited equivalent certification. Must have a current CPR/BLS for Healthcare Providers or equivalent. Must possess the ability to work in a camp setting and to inspire confidence in campers and staff. Emotional stability is needed to meet emergency situations. Must be able to stimulate interest in basic cleanliness, health education, safety practices and to recognize potential safety hazards, and have sound judgement. Physical Requirements Walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching and ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds. Daily exposure to seasonal weather conditions. Must be able to work in a rustic camp environment with limited access to electricity, cell phone service and internet. Responsibilities
