Description Now Hiring End-of-Line (EOL) Test Engineer Location: Greenville, Michigan Reports to: Quality Manager Employment Status: Hourly non-exempt Middleby Refrigeration is seeking a hands-on and technically strong End-of-Line (EOL) Test Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for validating the functional performance, safety, and reliability of refrigeration products at final assembly. The End-of-Line Test Engineer serves as the technical authority for product testing, failure isolation, and test process improvement, ensuring that units leaving the factory meet engineering specifications and customer expectations. This position bridges Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering by diagnosing failures, identifying root causes, improving test methods, and preventing repeat defects — not just detecting them. This is a production-embedded engineering role requiring strong troubleshooting capability and cross-functional collaboration. Expected Hours of Work: This position is full-time. The general scheduled workdays are Monday through Thursday, 10-hour shifts. Overtime may be required based on business needs. Position Overview: The End-of-Line (EOL) Test Engineer is responsible for validating refrigeration product performance at final assembly and ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and acceptance criteria. This role focuses on structured failure diagnostics, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement of test processes to improve first-pass yield, reduce repeat failures, and prevent warranty escapes. Responsibilities: Testing & Validation Perform and oversee end-of-line (EOL) testing of refrigeration systems Conduct component checks Verify electrical loads and confirm acceptable current draw limits Validate control board functionality Perform safety and wiring validation Verify unit performance against engineering specifications and acceptance criteria Diagnostics & Troubleshooting Identify abnormal operating conditions (restriction, undercharge, overcharge, airflow issues) Diagnose failing units using structured troubleshooting methodology Prevent unnecessary part replacement by verifying true root failure cause Support technicians and production with proper repair direction Root Cause & Continuous Improvement Lead root cause analysis for repeat EOL failures and field returns Track defect trends in Power BI and escalate systemic issues Provide engineering feedback for design or process improvements Maintain and improve EOL test procedures and standards Support development of automated test sequences and error detection logic Improve fault detection capability (capture true failures, reduce false failures) Training, Documentation & Data Analysis Train operators on proper test interpretation and troubleshooting Assist NPI builds and pilot runs to establish test criteria Maintain test documentation, reports, and failure records Analyze test data to identify trends and early failure indicators Support warranty and reliability analysis Requirements Required Qualifications 3–7+ years of experience in refrigeration, HVAC, appliance manufacturing, or similar electromechanical environments Strong electrical troubleshooting skills Experience diagnosing mechanical and sealed refrigeration system issues Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and electrical schematics Hands-on experience with meters, gauges, and diagnostic test equipment Preferred Qualifications Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, HVAC/R, or a related field Experience in manufacturing test engineering, validation, or quality environments Working knowledge of refrigeration cycle performance and system behavior Experience with root cause methodologies (5 Whys, Fishbone/Ishikawa, Fault Isolation) Experience collaborating with production teams and technicians Technical Skills Electrical diagnostics (AC/DC circuits, loads, shorts, opens) Refrigeration system performance analysis, including: Compressor behavior Identifying restriction vs. leak vs. inefficiency Airflow and heat transfer effects Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics Data analysis and failure trend identification Proficiency in Excel and technical documentation Preferred: Experience creating and managing Power BI reports If interested in the position, Click here to Apply!
