Description PRN (as needed) Responsible for providing optimum nursing care within the Endoscopy suite. Work is performed in accordance with accepted professional standards and established procedures and is exercised regularly in emergency situation and basic daily situations. Functions of the Position (not an exhaustive list): a. Preparation for endoscopy procedure, including: patient preparation and meeting patient/family member. Set up appropriate scope for procedure to be done. b. Assist with pre-op phone calls and post-op phone calls for the endoscopy patients. c. Assist with chart preparation before both endoscopy and cataract surgery cases. d. Review chart to assure completeness including review of Pre-op Questionnaire, History, and Physical. Ensure consent is signed. Ask patient to verify that what is scheduled is the same as on the consent form. e. Help surgeon with instruments and provide assistance. f. Provide pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure care of the patient. g. Recovery of the sedated patient. h. Assist with ambulatory care responsibilities Requirements Qualifications a. Education: • Graduate of accredited professional school of nursing • Must have current NC license as a registered nurse • Current BLS certification • ACLS training • At least one (1) year of experience in endoscopy procedures preferred.
