ENDOSCOPY DECONTAMINATION TECHNICIAN

If that sounds like you, then One Ashford Hospital has a fantastic opportunity to join our friendly Theatres & Endoscopy team as an Endoscopy Decontamination Technician.
In this hands-on role, you will support our nurses and clinicians to deliver safe, top-quality care by ensuring our equipment and spaces are always at their best. You will be key to keeping procedures running smoothly and safely. Your work behind the scenes will directly impact patient outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum GCSE education or equivalent
  • NVQ or equivalent, Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care preferred
  • Care Certificate

EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to learn and develop and undertake appropriate NVQ or equivalent training
  • Clinical experience in a healthcare setting

SKILLS:

  • Patient focused; able to deliver a high standard of customer care
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the business and work in other areas of the theatre department when necessary.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities
  • Participating in the admission, recovery, and discharge of endoscopy patients, in line with unit policies and patient pathways always reporting to qualified staff as needed.
  • Co-ordinating the use of supplies and equipment during endoscopy lists and the post-operative phase, ensuring everything is used safely and appropriately.
  • Playing a central role in preparing, maintaining, cleaning, and disinfecting all procedure rooms and equipment.
  • Decontaminating endoscopy equipment thoroughly after each procedure to meet infection control standards, gaining proficiency with the endoscopy washers and drying cabinet.
  • Participate and champion the endoscopy weekly tests in line with Decontamination Policy.
  • Supporting the team in other areas as required to support safe staffing and patient care.
    Hours: 37.5 per week; shifts between 8am & 8pm Monday to Friday.
