Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As an Endoscopy Healthcare Assistant, you will be working within our Endoscopy department, your core activity of this post will be the decontamination, disinfection, and transportation of flexible endoscopes.
You will also be assisting clinical staff in providing nursing care of the highest quality to patients.
It will be a requirement of the post-holder to become multi-skilled in both the washroom and patient areas.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MANY INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Correctly handle, clean, decontaminate endoscope whilst maintaining the security of flexible endoscopes and related equipment.
  • Accurate inspection, manual cleaning, correct loading of Automatic Endoscope Re processor of all flexible scopes for use in Endoscopy, Theatres and Out-Patients.
  • Cleaning of flexible scope equipment to comply with Decontamination Standards.
  • Correct/safe operation of Automatic Endoscope Re processor, drying cabinet and all other Endoscope Decontamination equipment to ensure compliance with testing regime and HTM 01-06
  • Operation of equipment to ensure tracking and traceability from Endoscopy decontamination to each individual patient is achieved.
  • Ensure completion of documentation to ensure tracking and traceability of equipment through the decontamination process.
  • Carry out duties/daily test as operator as defined in HTM 01-06
  • Provide basic nursing care to patients under the supervision of trained staff
  • Monitor stock levels and report shortfalls
  • Ensure clinical areas are kept tidy
  • Clean and check equipment, reporting faults
  • Undertake administrative duties as required e.g. filing, making up admission packs
