POSITION SUMMARY

As an Endoscopy Technician, you will be an integral part of the gastroenterology team, assisting in various procedures and ensuring the smooth operation of the endoscopy unit. Your role involves direct patient care, technical support during procedures, and maintaining a sterile environment.

EDUCATION/TRAINING

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an Endoscopy Technician certification program preferred.
  • Training of sterilization procedures, aseptic techniques, and maintenance of procedural instruments and equipment.

EXPERIENCE

  • Two (2) plus years of Endoscopy Technologists experience Multi-Specialty Ambulatory Surgery Center or Outpatient facility, preferred.
  • Building strong relationships with Physicians.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates a cooperative work attitude towards co-workers, management, patients, visitors, and physicians.
  • Ability to set priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Function as Endoscopy Technician (Endo Tech) during gastroenterology procedures, working directly with the Physician and circulating nurse.
  • Reviews the updated schedule to assist in preparation of the procedure room.
  • Assist with patient positioning, considering body alignment, circulation, and pressure points.
  • Assist physicians and anesthesia personnel as needed during surgical procedures.
  • Operates and demonstrates proficiency in utilizing scope processor.
  • Work with the anesthesia department with stocking and ordering anesthesia supplies as needed.
  • Participate in the turnover of the Procedure Room in a timely manner.
  • Practice and monitor aseptic techniques to prevent infection and contamination.
  • Participate in the surgical time-out process per facility policy to ensure patient safety.
  • Review and update physician preference cards as needed with the supervision of the Clinical Manager.
  • Clean and prepare instruments and equipment after use, returning them to the proper area for storage or processing.
  • Differentiate sterilization methods required for specific instruments and equipment.
  • Prepare and monitor high-level disinfectant solutions, ensuring their efficacy.
  • Assist with the handling of specimens according to facility policies and procedures, ensuring proper labeling and care.
  • Provide a safe environment for patients and personnel, respecting patients’ rights to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
  • Promote physical comfort and provide emotional support and safety for patients throughout their surgical experience.
