Position Overview: The Outpatient Endoscopy Center Technician is responsible for providing technical support and assistance during endoscopic procedures performed in the outpatient setting. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the endoscopy center, providing high-quality patient care, and maintaining a safe and clean environment. The technician works closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional service to patients.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (additional healthcare-related certifications or degrees are a plus).
  • Previous experience as an endoscopy technician or in a related healthcare role is preferred.
  • Knowledge of endoscopic equipment, instruments, and supplies used in outpatient settings.
  • Familiarity with infection control protocols and safety standards in endoscopy.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and record keeping.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification may be required

Responsibilities
  • Assist with Endoscopic Procedures: Prepare and set up endoscopy equipment, instruments, and supplies prior to procedures. Assist physicians and nurses during endoscopic procedures by handling instruments, passing equipment, and providing suction and irrigation as required.
  • Patient Care and Support: Provide direct patient care and support before, during, and after endoscopic procedures. Help patients with positioning and ensure their comfort and safety throughout the procedure. Monitor vital signs, document patient information accurately, and report any changes or concerns to the healthcare team.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of endoscopic equipment, instruments, and scopes following established protocols and guidelines. Assist in maintaining inventory of supplies and ensure their availability for procedures.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and complete records of patient procedures, including patient history, vital signs, medications, and any complications or adverse events. Ensure all required documentation is properly completed and stored in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Quality Assurance and Safety: Adhere to infection control protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist in tracking and reporting performance indicators related to endoscopy procedures.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient workflow and optimal patient care. Communicate clearly and professionally with team members and assist in the training and orientation of new staff as needed.
  • Patient Education: Provide education to patients and their families regarding endoscopic procedures, pre-procedure instructions, and post-procedure care. Address patient questions and concerns, and offer appropriate resources and support.
