JOB SUMMARY:

The Youngstown State University Foundation is an independent, autonomous, private, nonprofit corporation that pursues, manages and distributes resources to support scholarships and student initiatives, as well as the growth and development of Youngstown State University.
TITLE: Endowment Assistant

QUALIFICATIONS:

A bachelor’s degree is required, with a minimum of one year progressively responsible experience in not-for-profit business setting; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills; highly energetic, positive outlook; dedicated to the value of higher education. Self-motivated and self-directed. Superior organizational, time management, and technology skills. A high degree of integrity; ability to work in a sensitive, highly confidential, and professional environment. Alumni status a plus. Knowledge of the history and culture of Youngstown State University, the YSU Foundation (YSUF) and the Mahoning Valley desired.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with YSUF staff to review submitted scholarship applications and make award decisions.
  • Communicate verbal and written follow-up information requests to scholarship recipients.
  • Send congratulatory letters to all scholarship recipients with directions regarding thank you letter procedure.
  • Receive and organize all student thank you letters.
  • Reach out to scholarship recipients who do not complete a thank you letter by due date.
  • Work with the Endowment Stewardship Coordinator to send student thank you letters to all YSUF Donors when applicable.
  • Work with Endowment Finance Coordinator to send annual market value letters to donors.
  • Maintain and update endowment files, keeping information current, organized and accurate.
  • Assist with review and audit of YSUF awarded scholarships.
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality of student and donor information.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Able to perform job functions under moderate levels of stress, imposed by frequent deadlines, and peak processing workloads.
  • Ability to communicate diplomatically, clearly, and effectively to exchange information, give/receive instructions, and respond to inquiries appropriately.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all students, faculty, staff, and donors.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of office technologies including but not limited to office computers, fax machines, scanners, internet, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Accurate typing/data entry skills and demonstrated ability to work with diligence.

OTHER FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $36,000.00 - $38,000.00 per year
