Description

The Energy Engineer is responsible for conducting high-quality energy audits, mechanical system condition assessments, and energy efficiency reviews. This role plays a key part in advising clients on strategies to reduce consumption, optimise performance, and meet decarbonisation goals, while ensuring technical compliance and quality standards are met.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Energy Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in energy auditing, mechanical system analysis, or design, ideally within commercial or industrial sectors.
  • Strong understanding of relevant standards (e.g., AS/NZS 3598:2014) and relevant environmental regulations.
  • Experience delivering client-focused, tailored energy advice and working in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply engineering judgement in reviewing specifications, calculations, and system performance.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct energy audits to AS/NZS 3598:2014 of commercial and industrial facilities and occasionally undertake residential assessments to identify inefficiencies and recommend energy-saving measures.
  • Prepare condition reports for mechanical systems to inform capital expenditure (CAPEX) planning and achieve operational (OPEX) savings.
  • Technical report writing.
  • Collaborate with clients to define and achieve energy management objectives through education, improved processes, and equipment upgrades.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, consultants, contractors, and project managers, to deliver fit-for-purpose energy solutions.
  • Review and validate engineering calculations, equipment selections, and performance specifications to ensure reliability, performance, and sustainability outcomes.
  • Monitor and engage with vendors and subcontractors to confirm that all products and services meet requirements and client expectations.
  • Conduct project risk assessments relating to quality and compliance, proactively mitigating potential risks or non-conformance.
  • Support continuous improvement by gathering feedback, reviewing internal processes, and refining energy audit frameworks and QA systems.
