Are you passionate about energy management and optimization? Do you have extensive experience in a large FMCG environment and are ready to take on a key role in our Technical Engineering Team? Join us as we strive to enhance our energy efficiency and sustainability at our Danone Plant Based FMCG Site in Wevelgem. This is an exciting opportunity to lead energy initiatives, drive continuous improvement, and make a significant impact on our operations.

As the Energy Lead, you will be responsible for the energy management and optimization of our large Danone Plant Based FMCG Site located in Wevelgem. You will collaborate closely with the manufacturing department and the rest of the Technical Engineering Team. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lifecycle Management of Energy Assets: Oversee energy sources such as steam, compressed air, ice water, refrigeration, water treatment, wastewater treatment, and water reclaim.
  • Project Management: Manage energy projects in alignment with the Site Initiative Management Dashboard and co-develop the Site Technical Masterplan and Capex Pipeline.
  • Energy Optimization & Productivity: Coordinate the ‘Site Energy Losses Reduction Program’ and the Utility Generation Optimization Program.
  • Reporting and Data Processing: Handle internal reporting such as Greentrack, Refuel, PPPC reporting, and Metron Data Management.
  • Technical Standards Management: Collaborate with Danone central teams to establish standards for the production, distribution, and monitoring of energy.
  • Power Plant Profit Center: Prepare and chair monthly PPPC meetings, manage daily day-ahead nominations, and utilize the GAMS software tool.
  • Auditing and Innovation: Conduct internal energy audits and implement innovative technologies and processes to improve energy efficiency.
  • Compliance and Regulation: Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations and support the HSE department.
  • Energy Contracting: Work with the Procurement department to define and secure optimal energy contracts.

About you

We are looking for a candidate with the following skills and competencies:

  • Education: Master’s degree in engineering sciences.
  • Experience: At least 10 years of experience in energy management, with a minimum of 5 years in a large FMCG group.
  • Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of energy management principles, technologies, and regulations, with a strong electromechanical background and deep understanding of thermodynamic and electrical processes.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both white-collar and blue-collar employees.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Passion for Energy: A strong passion for energy savings and the determination to advocate for energy improvement plans.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to travel occasionally.
