SEE YOURSELF WORKING HERE

We are seeking an experienced and driven professional to lead the trading operations and performance of our growing portfolio of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across the Australian National Electricity Market (NEM). In this critical role, you will ensure the reliable, efficient and profitable operation of our assets through real-time optimisation, bidding and dispatch of the BESS portfolio. You will be responsible for managing the short-term trading strategy, executing trades to fulfil our contractual obligations whilst maintaining full compliance with the NEM rules.
A key focus of this position is developing and executing bidding strategies that maximise value in the wholesale energy and ancillary services markets. You will actively monitor market conditions, pricing trends, demand forecasts, and regulatory developments to inform strategic decisions. Working closely with the Commercial Team, you will align operational strategies with financial performance targets, while also overseeing market data reconciliation, settlements, and invoicing processes.
As the lead for trading operations, you will be the primary escalation point for AEMO-related issues and a trusted contact for both internal and external stakeholders, including grid operators, network service providers and market participants. You’ll play a pivotal role in building robust operational procedures and driving continuous improvement through detailed performance analysis and cross-functional collaboration with asset management, engineering, and commercial teams.
If you thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment and are passionate about shaping the future of renewable energy in Australia, we want to hear from you.

Skills and experience required for success:

  • A tertiary qualification in Business, Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy or another closely related field
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in energy trading, market operations, or technical support within the National Electricity Market (NEM).
  • Experience working for a Financially Responsible Market Participant (FRMP) or Integrated Resource Provider (IRP) registered entity is highly desirable.
  • A strong understanding of battery technologies and energy storage systems is essential, along with practical knowledge of associated control systems.
  • Capability to navigate the technical and operational complexities of battery technologies in a commercially focused environment.
  • A thorough knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks is required, including the National Electricity Rules (NER), AEMO procedures, and associated market reporting requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with AEMO Portal Applications and related operational systems.
  • The role also demands strong technical skills, particularly in the use of performance monitoring tools and data analysis platforms to ensure optimal system performance and compliance with market obligations
