The Canadian Public Safety Operations Organization (CanOps) is inviting applications from qualified persons for the position of Full-time Enforcement Dispatcher within our Provincial Emergency Communications Centre (PECC).
The PECC offers a wide range of services in the public safety spectrum. We are the first point of contact to receive, assess and route 911 calls in the Province, with the exception of Saskatoon and Regina Corporate city limits. In addition, we provide call taking and dispatch services for 365 Fire Departments, both career and volunteer, from across the Province. The PECC serves one municipal police service and several Government of Saskatchewan ministries and agencies including Ministry of Environment Conservation Officers, Saskatchewan Highway Patrol, and Community Safety Officers throughout the Province.
The Enforcement Dispatcher is responsible for monitoring and tracking officer activities with an emphasis on ensuring officer safety. Enforcement dispatchers perform a variety of job functions including running queries, responding to officer emergencies and providing resources and support as needed. We answer and process calls from the public as well as record and dispatch public safety resources for incidents and activities throughout or Province. The Enforcement Dispatcher provides clear, accurate and customer focused communications to assist in efficient and effective monitoring and response.
Becoming an Enforcement Dispatcher requires unique training, which will enable you to serve in the public safety continuum, while ensuring the safety of the responders.
The successful candidate will be required to complete a full-time, paid training term that consists of both classroom and in house training which can last up to three (3) months. After the successful completion of the training, employees will then work rotational shifts as scheduled, within our emergency communications team. We offer career advancement opportunities to cross train in other areas of emergency communications including police call taking and dispatching, 911 call taking, and fire dispatching.
