As a key representative of the organization, the Engagement Coordinator initiates collaborations, manages program logistics, and fosters a welcoming environment where students gain new passions and skills.

DESCRIPTION

Title: Engagement Coordinator
Job Type: Full-Time 40 hr/week
Reports to: Program Director
Pay: Salary - Full-Year $50,000-65,000 DOE, (bonus for fluent Spanish/English bilingual)

Schedule: Varies based on partnership experiences;

  • Core hours during the school year include:
  • Wednesdays 1:00-6:00,
  • Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 2:00 - 6:00 pm,
  • and monthly Friday training.
  • Summer core hours include:
  • Daytime schedule between 9:30-4:00 Monday through Fridays.
  • Remaining work week schedule is flexible.
  • Occasional evenings and weekends for special events.

COORDINATOR TEAM DESCRIPTION

Coordinators at The Space play a vital role in developing and implementing effective programs that align with our mission. They ensure smooth operations by managing project details, meeting deadlines, and measuring program success. While coordinators do not directly oversee staff, they collaborate closely with managers, team members, students, parents, and partners to facilitate seamless program execution. Organized and adaptable, they lead projects within their department, provide hands-on support where needed, and help create impactful experiences for the teens we serve.

LEADERSHIP AND ORGANIZATIONAL GROWTH (10%)

  • Support creation and/or refinement of program goals and descriptions;
  • Collaborate with staff teams to support operational effectiveness and improvement in alignment with mission and vision of The Space;
  • Support fundraising and grant seeking activities;
  • Participate in regular team meetings, training and events as required.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Innovative thinker with a passion for youth engagement and community-building.
  • Strong project management skills, particularly in youth-related work, including planning, execution, and evaluation.
  • Believes that all students matter and actively supports and encourages self-confidence and personal growth;
  • Experience working with adolescent youth;
  • Ability to develop a program vision within a broader mission, balancing community needs and student-driven initiatives.
  • Strategic thinker that anticipates challenges, generates innovative solutions, and optimizes systems.
  • Excellent collaboration and team-building skills.
  • Utilizes clear and effective interpersonal and written communication to engage and inspire others in alignment with brand messaging guidelines.
  • Willingness to initiate conversations, ask for support, and advocate for students.
  • Experience working with a diverse community and fostering an inclusive environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or 2+ years of experience leading or organizing programs.
  • Bilingual preferred, but not required.
