Position Summary: The Engagement Officer is a hard-working and motivated individual who is proactive and demonstrates character, curiosity, and commitment. The Engagement Officer is a critical member of the Engagement Team, identifying and strengthening current and new relationships within McCallie’s college age alumni, young alumni, and upper school students. Working closely with the Sr. Director ~ Engagement & Culture, this person seeks and manages connections between McCallie and our college and young alumni, fostering a sense of community and nurturing a robust and valuable network. This role is crucial by working now to build future resources to support a 15-year $300 million capital campaign, “For Boys. For Men. For Life.” Through intentional engagement, relationship management, and stewardship, this role ensures constituents feel informed, valued, and involved throughout their lifelong relationship with the School—strengthening McCallie’s enduring brotherhood, community, and culture as McCallie seeks to be a companion and resource for life. This role will require significant travel (at least 60%) and is a visible representation of the school, communicating and interacting with McCallie’s vast community. This is a year-round 12-month, full-time position. It is considered exempt and eligible for full benefits. Primary Responsibilities: Key Function #1 - Alumni and Community Engagement: Provide strategic support for McCallie’s alumni engagement efforts. Develop and execute engagement strategies to nurture relationships with college age alumni and younger alumni Plan engagement events and other creative opportunities to connect with college age alumni, younger alumni, including networking events and other gatherings Design relationship-driven programs and experiences that strengthen connection, community, and shared purpose, while increasing college age and younger alumni participation Key Function #2 - Student Engagement: Partner with College Counseling and other relevant upper school administrators to build programs for upper school students to welcome them as “alumni” prior to their graduation, including helping support the Sophomore Mentoring Program and Senior Tornado Term Internships. Develop and execute engagement strategies to nurture relationships with upper school students Recruit, support, and motivate alumni mentors for the Sophomore Mentoring Program and intern hosts for the Senior Tornado Term Internships to engage with and invest in the next generation of McCallie men Innovate in places where new ideas and improvements are needed Key Function #3 - General Duties to Support the Engagement and Development Teams: Partner with other members of the team to execute department objectives and initiatives, while fostering a culture of engagement, collaboration, and philanthropy. Support the Engagement Team in the planning of special events such as luncheons, retreats, receptions, donor lunches, and dinners as needed related to McCallie’s Alumni Chapters, Councils, and Chattanooga-based community Work closely with the Development Operations team members to develop systems for collecting and tracking young alumni data Support other Development Office initiatives, including Engagement and Philanthropy programs as needed Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate: Highly relational approach with a focus on honoring and celebrating people, while strengthening McCallie’s enduring brotherhood, community, and culture Strong interpersonal and communication skills with diverse constituents Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to effectively multitask Eagerness to learn, adaptability, and collaboration Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Requirements Bachelor’s Degree preferred; Experience in customer-facing roles either through volunteering or work experience preferred; Demonstrate character and integrity, being mindful that you are representing McCallie’s brand of honor, truth, and duty, on and off campus; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Ability to travel extensively with some nights and weekend; Proficiency with Microsoft Office (knowledge of Google Suite preferred); Aptitude for learning new software and systems; Deep understanding of, support for, and desire to live out McCallie’s mission for the good of McCallie boys - including both the school’s Christian foundation and its commitment to the ideals of honor, truth, and duty.
