At Island D. Automotive Machine we are passionate about what we do. We machine, assemble, and build automotive, light-duty industrial, and marine engines - gas, diesel, stock, and performance.
We have a highly-skilled and knowledgeable team with over 30 years of machining experience, where a ‘self starter’ who shows initiative and a strong work ethic would thrive. Our business is growing and the Island D. Automotive Machine team is searching for another member.

Job Responsibilities: As an Engine Machinist, you will utilize your technical skills and precision machinery to perform a range of tasks that contribute to the overall quality and performance of engines. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Inspecting and evaluating engine components for damage, wear, and compatibility.
  • Operating a variety of machining equipment such as lathes, mills, grinders, and honing machines to repair, modify, and fabricate engine parts.
  • Applying your expertise in measurements, tolerances, and materials to ensure precise machining processes.
  • Rebuilding and resurfacing cylinder heads, blocks, crankshafts, and other engine components.
  • Balancing and blueprinting engines for optimal performance and durability.
  • Collaborating with other technicians, mechanics, and engineers to discuss engine specifications, repairs, and modifications.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Staying current with industry trends, advancements in machining technology, and best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A proven track record as a machinist, preferably with specialization in engine machining.
  • Proficiency in operating machining equipment, interpreting technical drawings, and performing precise measurements.
  • Strong understanding of engine components, materials, and their interactions.
  • Ability to diagnose engine problems, recommend solutions, and execute effective repairs.
  • Detail-oriented mindset and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work well both independently and within a team.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues and provide clear explanations to clients.
  • Physical capability to lift and manipulate heavy engine components as required.
  • Relevant certifications or training in machining and engine technology is a plus.
