Job Description Summary This position represents a fantastic opportunity for a talented, highly motivated, and positive individual to become a proactive member of BD’s global Operational Excellence (OPEX) community. Reporting to the BD Excellence Senior Manager, the BD Excellence Engineer will be passionate about creating a culture of operational and customer excellence, implementing change, and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) across the network through BD Excellence. This strong operational excellence and continuous improvement identity will be created through the systematic application of BD Excellence, methodologies, and associated tools, to ensure sustainable optimization of performance in the areas of quality, delivery, and cost, whilst improving safety Job Description - Active member of the Focused Improvement component team. - Develop and grow problem-solving capability at all levels. - Support implementation of CI projects across all dimensions of SQDCP. - Help coordinate the activity of component teams and focused improvement project teams to eliminate loss, according to strategic goals. - Help generate, sustain, and deliver a multi -year Cost to Win (CTW) portfolio, support governance processes, and optimization of the site loss landscape. Help meet or exceed CTW (Cost to Win) goals through leading and /or supporting Focused Improvement team savings projects (Loss Landscape). - Teach and coach BD Excellence concepts and systematic approach, including strategy deployment, core components, Zero Loss mindset and all related methodologies/tools. Lead and facilitate breakthrough Kaizen events and support other BD Excellence components in problem-solving capability development. - Support the development of a zero-loss mindset across critical areas to optimize quality, delivery and cost while improving safety. - Help develop and grow capability through components and component teams to establish the fundamentals of excellence in safety, quality, and reliability. Coach and guide project selection process to ensure focus of resources and time on priorities. - Ensure strategic alignment through cascading Key Performance Indicators (KPIs’) top-down and bottom-up. Support BD Excellence deployment and governance process across all relevant components. - Drive BD Excellence capability development through the deployment of progressively advanced aspects of component methodologies. Support attainment of long -term CI objectives through cross-functional teams with shared goals. - Drive the use of effective data-driven visual-management techniques, e.g., Business- Operating-System (BOS) charts to drive improvement of KPIs such as OEE, waste, labor productivity, etc. Active role in governance and action tracking of improvements, with periodic reporting of activity completion dates, expected and achieved results. Additional to BD Excellence Engineer – Kaizen & Blitz - Able to conduct Lean Training to educate and spread lean culture plantwide. - Coordinate and execute the Internal Kaizen Event, CI Programs and BD Excellence internally or within the BD plant. - Responsible for executing and managing kaizen improvement projects inclusive of report writing, if necessary. Additional to BD Excellence Engineer – Industrial Engineer - Govern and improve the plantwide cycle time. - Analyze existing processes and systems to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement through cycle time and motion study. - Utilize Work content or Line Balancing to determine the productivity, maximum capacity of production and the ideal manpower required. - Work with TRIAD team to develop standardized work for all production processes. - Identify, evaluate, and recommend changes or improvements in product design, operational process, procedure, and equipment and provide analysis to support these changes. - Assist in financial planning and cost analysis. - Design production planning and control systems. - Design methods to ensure product quality. - Optimize facility layouts for factories, warehouses, and other operational spaces to improve space utilization, material flow, ergonomics, and safety regulations to create efficient environments. - Optimize supply chain and logistic operations. - Study and rearrange work engineering, material flow, and operations sequence.
