Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities * Support teammates in the design, development and transfer of measurement, inspection or testing systems to production, ensuring measurement specifications and NPI project timelines are met * Upgrade and optimize existing measurement, inspection, automation systems to meet customer and product requirements * Develop and implement new metrology or testing methods when required * Prepared and release engineering drawings and technical documents to manufacturing teams  * Independently or collaboratively work with other teams to maintain and troubleshoot major issues of NPI-developed equipment, and provide advice or solutions for short- and long-term corrective action * Support the manufacturing team to prepare simple mechanical components such as tool, jigs, or fixture * Perform additional duties or special assignments as directed by the Line Manager Education & Experience * Bachelor’s Degree in one of following majors: Mechanical or Mechatronics or Engineering Physics or Applied Physics or other relevant majors * At least 2 years of relevant experience in a mechanical workshop or manufacturing environment, involving the design, development, and qualification of mechanical components and assemblies * Alternatively, experience in research/university institutes working with optical systems/assemblies or automation equipment is acceptable. Candidates with publications in peer-reviewed journals or conferences are strongly preferred * Proficient computer skills, experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Skills * Capability in designing tools, jigs and fixture for optical-related testing systems * Experience in using 3D CAD (SolidWorks is an advantage) * Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing of mechanical parts (GD&T) for mechanical parts * Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills for influencing and resolving issues * Proficiency in English for technical and business communication Responsibilities * Collaborate with teammates to support the development of new products, designs, and platforms  * Create and release mechanical drawings to the PLM system (e.g., Oracle, SAP, etc) * Prepare and release work instructions (WI) and standard operating procedures (SOP) to the manufacturing team * Participate in the design and development of mechanical or opto-mechanical testing systems * To be assigned by the NPI Manager Working Conditions * Work with advanced optical technologies and high-precision measurement equipment. * Perform regular hands-on work with manufacturing and metrology instruments. * Work may take place in specialized workshops, cleanrooms, and standard office environments. * Occasional travel may be required for training or collaboration at overseas facilities.   Coherent is a global leader in lasers, engineered materials and networking components.
