Position Type - Full Time
Job Title: Engineer Band 3 - RAM (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability)
Location: Stratford / Hybrid working*
Salary: £53,000 - £55,000
Band: Band 3

Contract Type: TfL, Permanent

  • Hybrid working within this role enables a balance of 50 per cent of time split between the office and home over a 4-week period. Hybrid working arrangements can evolve subject to business requirements.

Transport for London (TfL) Engineers are always looking forward. Join our Central Engineering team at TfL, where you will not only maintain legacy assets but also deliver innovative new systems and solutions. Our work goes beyond tubes, roads, buildings, and bridges—it’s about connecting communities and creating opportunities, ensuring we are prepared for the 21st century and beyond.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

As a RAM Engineer, you should have a strong understanding of the 5012x suite of EN standards and be familiar with RAM standards from other sectors. You should be able to identify the mix of asset and non-asset causes of unavailability in the transport system and use both theoretical and practical data analysis to develop RAM performance requirements. You will demonstrate how RAM targets are apportioned over sub-systems and reapportioned as projects progress.

EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE:

You should have experience in conducting Root Cause Analysis, operational-focused reliability growth planning, and balancing the cost of reliability against unreliability. Additionally, you should be skilled in managing and leading FRACAS (Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action Systems), predicting reliability, and evaluating stakeholder and supplier needs during RAM meetings.
Join us at TfL and be part of a team that is shaping the future of transportation, connecting communities, and creating opportunities for all.

Responsibilities

As a member of our team, you will be responsible for specifying and delivering Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) activities to meet the operational and business requirements of TfL engineering programmes. This includes legacy assets across all phases of the lifecycle, from project scope assessment and development to service introduction and beyond.
