About the role Our Engineer (Data) plays a pivotal role in shaping our data platform infrastructure and processes. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our data systems are highly available, scalable, and reliable. As part of the Platform Engineering team, you’ll contribute to impactful outcomes while gaining exposure to a broad range of technologies and practices. Key responsibilities will include: Designing, building, and maintaining robust ELT/ETL pipelines using Azure Data Factory, dbt Cloud, and Snowflake Writing complex, high-performance SQL queries across platforms including SQL Server and Oracle Developing scalable data warehousing solutions with a focus on modularity, reusability, and re-run-ability Collaborating across teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex data challenges in a regulated environment Conducting data profiling, implementing test automation, and maintaining high-quality documentation Supporting both relational and NoSQL storage systems through thoughtful data model design Applying Agile, DevOps/DataOps, and Platform Engineering best practices to build secure, resilient data pipelines Monitoring and improving observability metrics such as data accuracy, availability, reliability, and quality Defining and tracking key performance indicators to measure and enhance solution effectiveness Embedding Data as a Product principles to ensure data sets and pipelines meet stakeholder needs, with clear ownership, quality standards and lifecycle management About you: Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Azure Data Factory, dbt Cloud, and Azure Cloud services Strong SQL skills, with the ability to write and optimise complex queries across multiple platforms Solid understanding of data warehousing, data modelling, and ELT/ETL pipeline development Familiarity with observability frameworks and quality assurance practices for data products Exposure to platform engineering principles and modern software development environments Ngākau nui.
