We look forward to meeting you.   The Role Applies electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; construction of developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and components; and quality testing. Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems. This position is for the A1B Fluid Systems Propulsion Plant Manual (PPM) Author.  The successful candidate will be responsible for content related to steam plant fluid and mechanical systems contained within the A1B Propulsion Plant.  The PPM Author works closely with system and component engineers to ensure the description, operation, and maintenance of the applicable systems and components are accurate, concise, and in accordance with the authoring guidelines for writing PPM content.The PPM Authors become experts in their cognizant systems and learn the details of how the overall Propulsion Plant is operated and maintained.Candidates must possess outstanding written and oral communication skills.  This position requires a substantial amount of research, critical thinking, collaboration with engineering, and interaction with NNL and NAVSEA.Must Have Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience;  Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience;  Ph.D. and 4 years of experience. Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
